Vasion Announces Flexible, Secure Printing Solutions to Keep Companies Safe and Support A Hybrid Workforce

St. George, UT (Aug. 24, 2021) – As the workplace undergoes a massive transformation, IT professionals are searching for tools to support the shift to a hybrid work approach and maintain productivity. According to McKinsey, 52 percent of U.S.-based employees say they prefer a hybrid work model, making the need for secure and mobile printing more important than ever. But managing the demands of a hybrid workforce introduces a new set of safety and security risks.

To ease the transition, Vasion (formerly PrinterLogic, the world leader in serverless printing infrastructure) announced today a series of new features and functionality designed to support IT teams and empower all end-users with seamless and secure printing. PrinterLogic SaaS customers can now enjoy off-network printing capabilities, a new mobile printing app for Android and iOS, and a touchless printing experience.

“The rapid shift to support a remote workforce has hamstrung IT teams over the last 18-months. We know IT professionals everywhere are re-evaluating their current IT strategy and asking, ‘Can this solution support the future of work?’,” said JD Carter, Vasion CXO. “With the release of these new features, our customers can confidently and securely ensure their organization can deliver best in class serverless print management, wherever work happens.”

PrinterLogic’s new features allow end-users to securely print to corporate printers from laptops, smartphones, and tablets outside corporate networks and firewalls.

    • Off-network Printing:  This feature allows users to keep printers on their most secure networks while enabling all workers to print regardless of what network they’re on. Off-network printing addresses two key IT challenges: first, managing printing in a zero-trust network architecture, and second, it provides easy, intuitive printing access to contractors, Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) guests, and affiliate partners without VPNs or web portals. Off-network printing works with any end-user computing device, including smartphones and tablets.
    • Mobile Printing App: The new mobile app lets users easily print from their mobile device or tablet directly to any printer on the organization’s network. IT Admins can now manage printer deployments for iOS and Android devices, from the same single pane of glass as all other endpoints. The PrinterLogic mobile app facilitates secure-release printing, which ensures confidential print jobs are released to the right end-user at the right time.
    • QR Code Secure Release Printing: The new QR Code secure release functionality delivers a touchless printing experience. Employees no longer have to touch a shared surface on a printer to release their print job. They can simply walk up to any printer, scan the QR code from the PrinterLogic mobile app, and select the print job they want to release. This new secure release option is available in the PrinterLogic Mobile app and keeps the health and safety of companies top of mind.

The mobile printing app is available from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. To learn more about Vasion’s Off-network Printing, QR Code secure release printing, and the mobile printing app, visit https://www.printerlogic.com.

PrinterLogic Achieves Sharp Validation for New Control Panel Application

PrinterLogic CPA brings Secure Release Printing and Advanced Features to Sharp OSA®-enabled Multifunction Printers

MONTVALE, NJ September 16 2020Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America, a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, and PrinterLogic, a global leader in Serverless Printing Infrastructure, today announce that PrinterLogic has received Sharp OSA Validation of its Control Panel Application (CPA) for Sharp multifunction printers (MFPs). Product validation by Sharp verifies that PrinterLogic’s CPA integrates seamlessly with Sharp OSA-enabled MFPs to deliver secure print release functionality to users and advanced CPA management tools for IT admins.

The new CPA, developed with technical guidance from Sharp, provides an intuitive touchscreen interface and a variety of authentication options including badge scan, smartphone release, and dual-factor authentication (DFA). As print security becomes more and more fundamental to organizations of every size, secure features and integrations like DFA have become essential.

“Having a PrinterLogic integration for our Sharp OSA-enabled MFPs will facilitate fast, easy and secure print release for our customers,” said Vince Jannelli, Associate VP, Software Product Management at Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. “This will be a welcome addition for IT directors and system administrators who are tasked with securing confidential information in their organizations.”

PrinterLogic’s Sharp CPA also provides Single Sign-On (SSO) support that can function as both an SSO “provider” and an SSO “listener.” That is, it can be the lead sign-on interface, or it can skip authentication entirely if users have already signed on through another app. In addition, the Sharp CPA enables copy and scan tracking. When enabled, admins can track all print, scan, and copy activity across their organization down to the user level. This advanced reporting feature gives decision-makers the necessary visibility to inform cost-saving initiatives.

“Sharp gets it — the world is moving to SaaS,” said Garrett Helmer, Senior Vice President of Channels at PrinterLogic. “Sharp’s testing and validation of our new CPA enables our SaaS customers to have a true serverless printing infrastructure for secure release printing from Sharp devices.”

The new Sharp CPA, which is available now to PrinterLogic SaaS customers, is built on the company’s new Control Panel Platform. The platform offers consistent user experience and enhanced performance across all printer brands. For more information about secure release methods, visit PrinterLogic’s secure release printing web page.

PrinterLogic Integrates Serverless Print Management with Leading Cloud-Based Identity Services

ST. GEORGE, Utah, March 31, 2020—PrinterLogic, the world leader in Serverless Printing Infrastructure (SPI), today announced a new integration with Okta, the leading independent provider of identity for the enterprise. This integration allows IT professionals to eliminate print servers and identity-related infrastructure by connecting the Okta Identity Cloud into PrinterLogic SaaS for SCIM provisioning and single sign-on (SSO). As an Okta embedded partner, PrinterLogic customers can leverage secure and seamless access to centralized identity management through Okta’s authentication technology.

As more organizations adopt a cloud-first strategy, traditional on-prem identity management options such as AD are no longer optimal. Identity Providers (IdP), such as Okta, empower customers to centralize administration across cloud-based applications, improve security, and reduce infrastructure. By embedding the Okta Identity Cloud into PrinterLogic, it solves a common challenge faced by organizations trying to uncouple the many processes connected with AD, including printer management and deployment. In addition, the embedded integration allows PrinterLogic customers who would like to try Okta to connect their instance of PrinterLogic for free through the Okta Cloud Connect program.

“This partnership makes so much sense. Our customers love eliminating print servers, and Okta’s customers love removing legacy identity infrastructure,” said Garrett Helmer, SVP Channels, PrinterLogic. “Together we will empower IT professionals to deliver on their cloud-first initiatives and give end-users the easiest and best printing experience, managed in the cloud.”

The PrinterLogic embedded integration has passed rigorous testing by Okta, and is now included in the Okta Integration Network of verified and approved Okta applications. PrinterLogic is the only embedded integration partner to enable Okta customers to fully eliminate print servers by provisioning a centrally managed direct IP environment that is truly SaaS-based and integrates with their existing Okta Identity Cloud solution.

“At Okta, we’re on a mission to enable every organization to seamlessly integrate and securely use any technology, said Maureen Little, Vice President of Technology Partnerships, Okta. “By bringing together industry leaders in identity and access management and serverless printing infrastructure, we are able to deliver a disruptive and modern solution for enterprise print management to our customers. The integration of the Okta Identity Cloud with PrinterLogic enables organizations to cut another cord to their legacy infrastructure.”

The integration with Okta builds on PrinterLogic’s mission to be the world leader in serverless printing infrastructure and to support organizations of every size and environment in their digital transformation journey. PrinterLogic and Okta’s integration is available today.

PrinterLogic Awarded Common Criteria Certification For Its Enterprise Print Management Software

First print management solution to receive validation of FIPS 140-2 compliance by independent NIST-approved testing laboratory

ST. GEORGE, UTAH, January 8, 2020—PrinterLogic, the world leader in Serverless Printing Infrastructure (SPI), announced today it has received its Common Criteria Certificate for validation of compliance with the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 for its PrinterLogic Web Stack solution.

Common Criteria certification is awarded to vendors that correctly implement the standards and security controls set by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Part of those security controls is strict adherence to the FIPS 140-2 standard, which defines encryption requirements for protecting sensitive U.S. government data

“At our core, we are a security-conscious company. This certification validates our security compliance and shows that we follow the most rigorous standards set by the U.S. government for securing data,” said Corey Ercanbrack, Chief Technical Officer for PrinterLogic.

The validation process was performed by Leidos Common Criteria Testing Laboratory, an independent testing organization widely recognized by government evaluators. To achieve certification, Leidos subjected the software’s cryptographic modules to functional and algorithmic testing.

PrinterLogic is the first print management software company to meet these requirements as validated by a NIST-accredited laboratory, and is now included on the National Information Assurance Partnership’s (NIAP) approved products list, used by technology buyers in 31 countries.

Over 40 federal entities use PrinterLogic to eliminate print servers and centrally manage direct IP printing. In 2019, PrinterLogic announced support for serverless CAC/PIV secure-release printing, which lets any network printer use multi-factor authentication to ensure print jobs are delivered to the right person.

The FIPS validation, in combination with PrinterLogic’s inherently secure direct IP printing platform, makes it a trusted solution for other data-sensitive sectors as well, including healthcare and financial services.

PrinterLogic Adds Chrome OS to Its List of Supported Operating Systems

New Chrome OS Client Extension empowers customers to centrally manage direct IP printing for Chromebook users

ST. GEORGE, Utah, Nov. 21, 2019—PrinterLogic, the world leader in Serverless Printing Infrastructure (SPI), today announced private preview availability for its Chrome OS Client Extension, which enables IT professionals to centrally manage direct IP printing for Chrome OS users. PrinterLogic’s SaaS print management solution, which already supports Windows, Mac, and Linux users, will be the first print management platform to support all four leading operating systems in a single management interface.

“As a Chromebook user myself, I can say from experience that Google is doing all the right things to keep Chrome OS secure and lightning fast,” said Ryan Wedig, CEO of PrinterLogic. “This extension is great news for customers who see the value of Chromebooks but don’t want to send print jobs to the cloud.”

With PrinterLogic’s direct IP printing platform, print jobs are sent directly to printers on the local network instead of being routed through the cloud. IT teams can automatically deploy the extension to Chromebook users within the Google Admin Console. Once deployed, the extension enables customers to centrally manage printing for Chromebook users alongside Windows, Mac, and Linux users.

“Chrome OS is the only mainstream operating system born in the cloud era,” said Gregg Fiddes, Head of Chrome Enterprise Ecosystem at Google. “PrinterLogic’s expertise in print management for mixed OS environments, along with its understanding of customers, SaaS, and enterprise IT needs, is a great combo that fits well with ChromeOS.”

PrinterLogic’s licensing model is user-independent, enabling customers to deploy the extension to Chromebook users at no additional cost. The extension is currently in private preview, with general availability planned for Q1 2020.
